The Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Permanent Observer to the United Nations, Ambassador Agshin Mehdiyev attended and addressed the Annual World Harmony Week. The event organized by the Committee of Religious NGOs at the United Nations, honoring World Interfaith Harmony Week "Interfaith Harmony: Embracing the Other" was held on Monday 6 February 2017 at the Tillman Chapel, Church Center for the United Nations, New York.
The event brought together representatives of different faiths and cultures to celebrate the principles of coexistence, harmony, mutual respect and tolerance within the framework of the harmony week.
Amon the speakers in the event were also Rev. Dionne Boisseire, from Chaplain Church Center for the UN, H.E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilization delivered his statement on the occasion. His statement was followed by some reading from Polynesian Indigenous traditions, Judaism, Islam and Buddhism.
