The OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir met on 20 September 2017 at the Ministerial level on the sidelines of the Annual Coordination Meeting in New York.
The meeting was attended by delegations of Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Niger, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
The meeting was opened by the OIC Secretary General, Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen.
In his opening remarks, the Secretary General while reviewing the OIC’s activities in dealing with the question of Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirmed the principled position of the Organization in fully supporting the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle to achieve their legitimate rights, in particular the right to self-determination.
Other distinguished members of the Contact Group also made statements and reiterated their continued support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They all called for a peaceful resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions on the subject as well as the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people, the principles of self-determination and Human Rights.
Statements were also made by the Representatives of the Kashmiri people.
